Adolescents through geriatric. Tell us the age on the first call and we will say straight away whether we are the right practice for it.

Four treatments, one practice, one team.

Most psychiatry practices can offer you the first of these. When it isn't enough, they refer you out and you start again with strangers. Here, the next step is a conversation, not a waitlist.

  1. 1

    Medication management

The starting point for most people. A 90-minute evaluation, then 30-minute follow-ups — long enough to talk about how it is actually going.

  2. 2

    TMS therapy

Magnetic stimulation for depression that medication has not lifted. Drug-free, no sedation, and you drive yourself home. Sessions from three minutes.

  3. 3

    SPRAVATO®

Esketamine nasal spray for treatment-resistant depression, given here under supervision at a REMS-certified center.

  4. 4

    ECT

For severe or urgent cases, provided by Dr. Gómez on staff at Honor Health Tempe. Still the most effective treatment there is for some presentations.

Request an appointment

You do not need to know which of these you need. That is what the first appointment is for.

Your first visit

Ninety minutes, and no rush.

1

A short first call

Tell us briefly what is going on. We confirm we are the right fit and check your insurance benefits before you commit to anything.

2

The evaluation

Ninety minutes covering your history, everything you have tried, medical factors, side effects and what you want to be different. In person or by telehealth.

3

A plan you understand

What we are recommending, why, what to expect and when — including what we are not doing. Not every plan starts with a prescription.

4

Follow-ups that follow up

Thirty minutes each, long enough to talk about how it is actually going. If the plan stops working, we change it rather than repeat it.

My initial. appointment was with Nurse Practitioner Jessica Cruz. It was very worthwhile. NP Cruz is very welcoming yet very nonjudgemental and professional. She welcomes questions and thoroughly answers them. Her professional knowledge is very thorough. I was in the pharmaceutical industry for over 25 years and have dealt with many medical professionals in almost all specialties. NP Cruz impressed me as a top notch practitioner. At the end of that initial session I realized that my situation would be much improved with a bit of time and patience.

The care I received her was far different past experiences with other providers, since Jessica took the time to hear all of my concerns, and fully took them into consideration as we developed a treatment plan. It was much appreciated!

Dr Gomez and the staff at Interventional Psychiatry of AZ have been my best choice in care in the past couple years. Dr Gomez always listens to my issues and has made several recommendations in my care and treatment for my mental health best concerns. His staff is very supportive and I have always recommended Dr Gomez to anyone looking for an excellent, respectful, and supportive psychiatrist.

No. You can book directly with us. If a primary care physician or therapist is already involved in your care, we are glad to coordinate with them so everyone stays aligned.

Interventional Psychiatry of Arizona works with most major insurance plans, including Medicare. Coverage and copays vary by plan, so our team verifies your benefits before your first appointment and tells you what you will owe. Self-pay options are available too.

Call us and we will tell you honestly what is open. Our team checks your benefits on that first call, so the scheduling and the insurance question get answered together rather than one after the other.

It runs ninety minutes. We go through your mental health history, every medication you have tried and are taking now, medical factors, side effects and what you actually want to be different. That is what a plan gets built from.

Yes. Evaluations, medication management and follow-up visits can be done virtually anywhere in Arizona. Some patients do the first appointment in person and everything after that from home. Procedures such as TMS and ECT are done in person.

Depression and treatment-resistant depression, anxiety and panic, bipolar disorder, PTSD and trauma, OCD, schizophrenia and psychosis including long-acting injectables, ADHD, insomnia, substance use, anger, and geriatric psychiatry.

We see adolescents and adults, and our physician assistant has experience across the whole lifespan including children. Tell us the age on your first call and we will tell you straight away whether we are the right practice.

That is much of what we do. This practice was built around treatment-resistant cases: when medication is not enough, TMS, SPRAVATO and ECT are all delivered here by the same team, so you are not starting over somewhere new.

Yes. Taking over an existing regimen — including a complicated one built up over years, or one started by a provider you no longer see — is routine. Bring your current bottles or a pharmacy list to the first visit.
